The Newest Cregar

After two short days of fostering, we decided to go ahead and adopt our foster dog.  Here are some pictures I took of our new pup Harley and his crazy sister Abby.

Madelyn and I took advantage of the lovely weather to take a trip to the park today.  She started off on the swings but then decided playing in the rocks would be much more fun.  She would pick them up and toss them.  Then she would look at the junk stuck to her hands and make an “ewww” face.  After we sanitized our hands, we headed off for a girls lunch out and a trip to Target to stock up.

This year was Madelyn’s first year to trick-or-treat.  Last year she got dressed up, but just for pictures and to say hi to the neighbors.  We got her in the kitty costume to go out for pictures.  All went well until she saw the kids next door she wanted to play with.  As I grabbed her arm to go back inside, she lost it.  I tried to explain we were going to her grandparents and we had to leave.  She was not havin’ it.  That explains the sobbing picture below.  All was fine when we got there and they gave her a big Halloween cookie treat.

We headed out after dinner and Maddie did great.  She walked most of the way herself and even grabbed her own treat out of some of the treat bowls.  Her favorite treat was a pack of Starburt she would not let go of.  She even got a cool Halloween sippy cup at one house. It was a great time and we really enjoyed seeing her out and about with all the other kids.  Next year should be even more fun!

It is true that Fall in Texas is a bit different than up north. There’s no changing of the leaves and not a pumpkin farm to be found.  There is FANTASTIC weather.  I am reminded on days like this that one of the prime reasons we moved here was weather.  On October 31st it was sunny and 75.  Maddie took advantage and went to play in the grass and run around the backyard. What she liked to do most was sit on the patio furniture and then stand when she thought I wasn’t looking.  I love some of these shots.  It always looks like she’s thinking and even sometimes… plotting.

Chris headed out this Saturday morning to the Texas State Book Fair.  Maddie and I stayed home and hung out.  We split some cheesy eggs and played with all her stuffed animals.  She was an unusually cooperative photographic subject this morning.

Congrats Sam!

Just want to send a shout out to my girlfriend Sam for getting the job she wanted at Oakwood Hospital out in Michigan.  After a hard year, she really deserved this win.  Despite an arduous interview process and some interference from a crazy saboteur trying to dash her hopes… she persevered.  Good job Sam!  This is just the start of great things for you and the girls.  Hugs!

I FINALLY got the link to the proofs from Madelyn’s pictures taken almost a month ago.  Some I love… some, not so much.  To take a look, go to the link below.  Click on “Clients” to the left side of the screen.  Then type in password “madelyn” when prompted.  It works better to click the stop sign below the photos to stop the slideshow.  Then click on each photo by itself to view.  Click on the down arrow after each set up pics to look at the next.

Man, I love this kid.  Look at her… she’s so freakin’ cute!  This is Mads all ready for bed tonight.  That smile just melts my heart. Pardon the poor camera phone pic.

Maddie has discovered the sheer joy of ripping everything out of the cabinets.  Before I installed the new cabinet door locks the other day, I let her have it and unload the tupperware all over the kitchen.  She had a blast chucking everything out and the throwing it around.  She then left it on the floor after an hour or so and went to do something else.  As you can imagine, it was not fun picking it all up and putting it back.  Here she is playing the other night…

This weekend we went to a Pit Bull Awareness Day Event at Zilker Park in Austin.  There were so many beautiful bully’s in attendance with their owners and plenty of rescue groups with adoptable pups.  Abby was on her best behavior and she won the best pittie video contest with her submission.  Madelyn had a blast running around outside and checking out all the “Abbas” as she calls them.  Here are some pics from that as well as a couple I snapped of Abby at home that day.
